Shattered Soul by Tristan Bonner

Distance is only a term

Is what I used to tell myself

The ties I had to her, I held firm

Instead of nailing them down to a shelf.

For once in my life, I thought I had it right

Made every right choice to make

Yet, just as I thought there would be no blight

I had to always give, and she had to always take.

I wished to not hurt her

With my attempted words of wisdom

Instead, she poisoned me like a spider

Leaving nights forever cold within the kingdom.

There was a stark difference between her and I

One shrouded in dark, the other shining with light

But, as the days flew, our words becoming dry

It turned out that the light isn’t always eternally bright.

Misery and woe isn’t what I preach

She never listened, though I must beseech

Should one ever cry in despair

Just know that I will always, always be there.
